Job Summary
The Import Manager is responsible for managing the complete import process, including international procurement, import documentation, customs clearance, logistics coordination, and ensuring compliance with all applicable import regulations. The role requires close coordination with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of imported materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Import Management: Manage the complete import process from purchase order placement to final delivery, ensuring compliance with laws and company policies.
- International Procurement: Source materials, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with overseas vendors, and maintain supplier relationships.
- Customs Clearance: Coordinate with CHAs and freight forwarders; manage documentation (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, etc.) and ensure timely payment of duties and taxes.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records; ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, and GST regulations.
- Logistics & Shipment Coordination: Optimize freight costs and track shipments via shipping lines and transporters.
- Cost Management: Analyze import costs (freight, duty, insurance) and prepare MIS reports.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with internal teams and external logistics partners to resolve discrepancies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or related field.
- Additional certification in Import-Export Management is preferred.
