Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Manager to lead all safety, health, and environmental activities for a 230 kV Underground Cable Laying Project involving trenching, HDD works, cable pulling, jointing, and restoration works along public roads.
The candidate should have strong experience in infrastructure, transmission, utility, or EPC projects and be capable of coordinating with clients, consultants, local authorities, and construction teams to ensure zero accidents and full statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the Project EHS Management System.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and audits.
- Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment (RA), and Method Statements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and client EHS requirements.
- Supervise trenching, excavation, HDD, cable pulling, lifting operations, traffic management, and confined space activities.
- Ensure proper barricading, diversion signage, and pedestrian safety in public road work zones.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety induction training.
- Monitor the use of PPE and enforce safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and mock drills.
- Maintain all EHS documentation, permits, inspection records, and monthly reports.
- Liaise with the Client, PMC, Local Authorities, and Government Departments on safety matters.
- Lead and mentor site safety officers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering/Science.
- Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety or NEBOSH IGC/Equivalent Safety Qualification.
- Additional certifications in First Aid, Fire Safety, or IOSH will be an advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of EHS experience in EPC/Infrastructure/Power/Utility projects.
- Minimum 3 years in HT/EHV cable laying or transmission projects.
- Experience working on public road utility projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of excavation safety, traffic management, lifting operations, work at height, electrical safety, and permit-to-work systems.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of Indian safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Experience in client safety audits and compliance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain documentation.
- Proficient in MS Office.
Preferred Experience
- 110 kV / 132 kV / 220 kV / 230 kV Underground Cable Projects.
- Metro, Highway, Data Centre, Utility, or Transmission projects.
- Experience coordinating with Traffic Police, Municipal Authorities, and Utility Departments.
