Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled, responsible, and patient-friendly Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples safely and efficiently, properly labeling and handling specimens, and ensuring a comfortable experience for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples from patients using appropriate phlebotomy techniques.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and accurately.
- Verify patient identity before sample collection.
- Properly label, store, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain accurate patient and sample records.
- Follow infection-control, hygiene, and biomedical waste-disposal procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the blood collection area and equipment.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during or after blood collection.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Explain blood collection procedures to patients and help them feel comfortable.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow all clinic/laboratory safety protocols.
Requirements
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/MLT) or recognized Phlebotomy Training/Certification.
- Good knowledge of blood collection and specimen-handling procedures.
- Ability to perform venipuncture confidently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-friendly, polite, and professional approach.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Freshers with appropriate training may also apply.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in a clinic, hospital, diagnostic centre, or laboratory.
- Experience collecting blood from adults, elderly patients, and children is an advantage.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
