We are seeking a qualified, compassionate, and dedicated Duty Medical Officer (DMO) to join our Psychiatric Hospital team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing medical care to psychiatric inpatients and outpatients, managing medical and psychiatric emergencies, coordinating with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical assessments and examinations of patients in OPD, IPD, and emergency settings.
- Assist psychiatrists in the evaluation, management, and monitoring of patients with mental health conditions.
- Manage medical emergencies and provide immediate stabilization and treatment when required.
- Monitor admitted patients' physical and mental health status and document clinical progress.
- Prescribe medications and treatments as per hospital protocols and under the guidance of consultants where applicable.
- Attend psychiatric emergencies, behavioral crises, and medical emergencies within the hospital.
- Coordinate with psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, case notes, investigation reports, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure compliance with mental healthcare regulations, patient rights, infection control measures, and hospital quality standards.
- Communicate patient condition updates to families, caregivers, and senior medical staff.
- Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings, and quality improvement activities.
- Assist in managing patients with coexisting medical conditions and monitor medication-related side effects.
- Support patient rehabilitation and recovery programs as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical college.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
- Freshers and experienced candidates are welcome to apply.
- ACLS/BLS certification is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including night duties.
- Work in psychiatric inpatient wards, OPD, emergency, and rehabilitation settings.
- Exposure to acute psychiatric and behavioral emergencies.
- Availability for on-call duties as required.
Preferred Experience
- 0–3 years of hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in psychiatry, emergency medicine, general medicine, or ICU settings is an advantage.
- Interest in mental health and psychiatric patient care is highly desirable.
