Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Technician – Electrical Integration with 2–5 years of experience in wiring, cable harnessing, and electrical assembly for mobile robots, UGVs, EV platforms, or industrial automation systems. The role focuses on electrical integration, routing, termination, and validation of wiring harnesses for indoor and outdoor unmanned ground vehicles operating in rugged environments.
The technician will work closely with electrical, embedded, mechanical, and autonomy teams to build reliable, serviceable, and safe electrical systems supporting sensors, actuators, compute units, power electronics, and communication networks.
Key Responsibilities
Wiring Harness Assembly & Integration
- Build wiring harnesses as per schematics, pinouts, and layout drawings.
- Perform cable cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, heat-shrinking, and labeling.
- Assemble LV power, signal, and communication harnesses (CAN, RS485, Ethernet).
- Ensure proper routing, shielding, grounding, strain relief, and lacing practices.
UGV Electrical Integration
- Integrate wiring into chassis, enclosures, and articulated structures.
- Install and connect motors, motor controllers, sensors, ECUs, compute units, batteries, and BMS.
- Support integration of indoor- and outdoor-rated components (IP-rated connectors, glands).
- Assist with electrical bring-up and system-level integration of UGV platforms.
Testing, Debugging & Validation
- Perform continuity, insulation, polarity, and basic functional checks.
- Debug wiring faults, loose connections, and EMI-related issues.
- Support power-on testing, subsystem validation, and field trials.
Documentation & Quality
- Follow wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and BOMs.
- Update as-built wiring documentation and cable schedules.
- Maintain connector pinouts, labels, and revision control.
- Follow electrical safety, ESD practices, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in electrical wiring and harnessing.
- Proficiency with crimping tools and connectors (Molex, JST, Amphenol, D-Sub, M12).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience integrating motors, sensors, controllers, and compute hardware.
- Knowledge of CAN, RS485, Ethernet, and low-voltage power distribution.
- Familiarity with DC systems (12V–60V) and battery-based platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mobile robots, UGVs, AGVs, or EV platforms.
- Exposure to outdoor-rated wiring, EMI/EMC best practices, and shielding.
- Experience with harness protection (conduit, over-braiding, grommets).
- Basic understanding of embedded systems and control electronics.
Soft Skills
- High attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced R&D and prototype environments.
- Team-oriented with clear communication and documentation habits.
