Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Designer to support enterprise-scale Cloud Data Modernization initiatives involving migration of legacy data warehouse and ETL workloads to modern cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake, ETL/ELT design, data modeling, and data platform architecture.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing scalable data solutions, analyzing existing SQL Server-based data warehouse processes, defining migration strategies, and collaborating with data engineers, architects, and business teams to deliver secure and high-performing cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern cloud data architectures for enterprise data modernization programs.
- Lead data design activities for migrating on-premises SQL Server data warehouse and ETL workloads to Azure Cloud and Snowflake.
- Analyze existing ETL processes developed using SSIS and T-SQL and define modernization approaches.
- Design scalable data pipelines and workflows using:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Databricks
- Self-hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR)
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2)
- Azure Blob Storage
- Snowflake
- Define data structures, mappings, transformations, and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with data engineers to implement optimized ETL/ELT solutions.
- Design data models supporting analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads.
- Review and optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Support implementation of DevOps practices and CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions.
- Ensure data solutions comply with security, governance, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless data flow.
- Document data designs, technical specifications, data mappings, and transformation rules.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and modernization planning sessions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Designer, Data Engineer, Data Architect, or similar role.
- Strong experience designing cloud-based data solutions and modernization programs.
- Hands-on experience with Azure data services, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Proven experience migrating ETL workloads from on-premises SQL Server environments.
- Strong understanding of data integration, transformation, and pipeline optimization.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Data Engineer Associate certification.
- Snowflake certification.
- Experience working in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of enterprise data governance and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting AI/ML-enabled data platforms.
