Job Overview
We are looking for a talented and experienced Asian Chef with expertise in sushi preparation, wok cooking, and dim sum production. The ideal candidate should be capable of handling multiple sections of the kitchen, maintaining high-quality standards, and contributing to the development of our Asian-inspired menu.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, maki rolls, and other Japanese specialties.
- Operate the wok station, preparing dishes such as stir-fries, noodles, fried rice, sauces, and other Asian specialties with consistency and speed.
- Prepare a range of dim sum items, including dumplings, bao, wontons, gyoza, and steamed specialties.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of seafood, meats, vegetables, and other ingredients.
- Maintain recipe consistency, portion control, and presentation standards.
- Assist in menu development and contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials.
- Monitor stock levels, minimize wastage, and support food cost management.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Coordinate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an Asian restaurant, Japanese restaurant, or Pan-Asian kitchen.
- Strong skills in sushi preparation, fish butchery, and knife handling.
- Proven experience working a high-volume wok station.
- Hands-on experience making dim sum, dumplings, bao, and other steamed or fried Asian appetizers.
- Knowledge of Asian ingredients, sauces, cooking techniques, and flavor profiles.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Culinary qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
