Key NMC Qualifications for Professor (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology):
- Educational Qualification: A postgraduate degree (MD in Forensic Medicine/DNB in Forensic Medicine).
- Teaching Experience:
- Total: 8 years of teaching experience as a postgraduate (PG) teacher in a recognized medical college.
- Directly Prior: Must have served as an Associate Professor in Forensic Medicine for at least 3 years in a recognized/permitted medical college.
- Alternative Experience: 5 years post-PG experience if fulfilling specific previous draft regulations (subject to updated 2025 guidelines).
- Research Publications:
- A minimum of 4 research publications (original papers, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, or case series).
- Publications must be in indexed journals (Medline, PubMed, Scopus, etc.).
- At least two publications must have been published during the tenure as Associate Professor.
- The teacher must be the first author or corresponding author.
- Registration: A valid registration with the State Medical Council or National Medical Commission (NMC). NMC +3
