About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Telematics Technical Lead to drive the architecture & development of our new product. You will bridge the gap between embedded hardware, mobile connectivity, and cloud infrastructure.
You will lead a cross-functional engineering team, making high-level architectural decisions while remaining hands-on with code and system design. You will be responsible for ensuring our telemetry data is accurate, secure, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Architecture
Define the end-to-end architecture for telematics systems, ensuring seamless integration between vehicle hardware (OBD-II, CAN bus), cellular networks, and cloud platforms.
Lead the selection of IoT devices, sensors, and connectivity modules (4G/5G, LTE-M, NB-IoT).
Make critical decisions regarding build-vs-buy for software components and platform infrastructure.
Mentor engineering teams, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices in DevOps and CI/CD.
2. Embedded & Edge Development
Oversee firmware development and edge computing strategies to optimize data transmission costs and latency.
Manage protocols for vehicle data acquisition
Ensure robust Over-the-Air (OTA) update mechanisms for remote device management.
3. Cloud & Data Ingestion
Design scalable data pipelines to handle high-frequency time-series data from thousands of connected assets.
Collaborate with backend teams to integrate telemetry streams with APIs, dashboards, and mobile applications.
Implement rigorous security standards for data in transit (MQTT/TLS) and at rest.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years in software engineering with at least 3+ years focused on IoT or Telematics.
Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
