Job Summary
- The Sand Plant Supervisor will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and quality control of the foundry’s sand preparation and recycling systems. This role ensures a continuous, high-quality supply of green sand or chemically bonded sand to meet the demands of high-pressure molding lines. The ideal candidate must possess deep technical expertise in foundry sand testing, preparation, and equipment operation to minimize casting defects and maximize plant uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Operations Management
- Supervise shift operations of the sand plant, including sand mixing, mulling, reclamation, and distribution systems.
- Maintain continuous sand supply to automated or manual molding lines (e.g., DISA, horizontal, or flaskless molding systems).
- Monitor process parameters such as moisture levels, compactability, green compression strength (GCS), and permeability.
- Manage raw material inventories including silica sand, bentonite (clay), sea coal, and other additives
Quality Control & Defect Prevention
- Conduct regular sand testing in the foundry laboratory to ensure parameters stay within specified tolerances.
- Analyze casting defects related to sand (e.g., sand inclusions, blowholes, scabs, cuts, washes) and execute corrective actions.
- Adjust sand preparation mixtures based on real-time feedback from the molding and pouring lines
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Foundry Technology, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in a mechanized iron or steel foundry, with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory role within a sand plant department
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹33,047.55 per month
