Job Summary
We are looking for a Purchase Executive with a Food Technology background to manage the procurement of food ingredients, raw materials, packaging materials, laboratory materials, and other requirements.
The candidate will work closely with the R&D, Quality, Production, Stores, and Finance teams to ensure timely availability of the right materials at the right quality and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure food ingredients, raw materials, packaging materials, and laboratory requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Coordinate with R&D and Quality teams to understand raw material specifications and quality requirements.
- Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate rates, payment terms, MOQ, and delivery timelines.
- Prepare and monitor Purchase Orders (POs).
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Maintain vendor database, quotation records, purchase records, and price comparison sheets.
- Monitor market prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with Stores for material availability, stock levels, and receiving.
- Verify received materials against PO requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality/R&D for approval of ingredients and raw materials where required.
- Maintain proper documentation related to suppliers, COA, specifications, invoices, and material traceability.
- Coordinate with Finance for invoice verification and payment-related queries.
- Support procurement for new product development and R&D trials.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of food ingredients and raw materials.
- Knowledge of food processing and food industry requirements.
- Good vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and purchase documentation.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills.
- Analytical and cost-conscious approach.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple departments.
- Knowledge of food safety and basic regulatory requirements will be an advantage.
Eligibility
Mandatory:
- B.Tech / B.Sc / M.Sc in Food Technology / Food Science / related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in purchase/procurement in the food, FMCG, food ingredients, or food manufacturing industry.
- Candidates with experience in sourcing food ingredients, spices, flavours, additives, packaging materials, or other food raw materials will be preferred.
Preferred Candidate
We are looking for someone who has both Food Technology knowledge + Purchase/Procurement experience and can effectively coordinate between vendors and internal R&D/Quality teams.
