About the role
Nestvest is building a serious video engine, our "Invested Parent" podcast and a steady stream of reels that teach parents about money without the jargon. We need a Video Editor who lives in both worlds: long-form podcast editing and short-form, high-retention reels. You'll take raw footage and turn it into content that feels warm, credible, and genuinely watchable, and bring enough design sense to make every frame look on-brand.
Key responsibilities
- Edit full podcast episodes: cleanup, pacing, audio balancing, cuts, intros/outros, chapters.
- Cut podcast episodes into short, high-retention clips and reels for social.
- Edit original reels: captions, motion graphics, sound design, hooks, and trend formats.
- Design supporting graphic assets, thumbnails, title cards, lower-thirds, and animated text, within Nestvest's design system.
- Apply on-brand subtitles and graphic elements consistent with Nestvest's palette, typography, and look.
- Collaborate with the social team on hooks, structure, and posting formats optimised for retention.
- Manage the edit pipeline: organise raw files, maintain version control, hit turnaround deadlines.
- Optimise exports per platform (Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Spotify video).
- Keep all on-screen claims compliant, no return promises, disclaimers where required.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Output volume: agreed number of podcast episodes and reels delivered per month, on schedule.
- Retention performance: average watch-time and retention/hook-rate on reels, improving over time.
- Turnaround time: consistent delivery within agreed editing timelines.
- Quality & brand consistency: minimal revision cycles; edits and graphics that match brand look, feel, and audio standards.
- Repurposing efficiency: number of usable clips generated per podcast episode.
- Compliance: zero non-compliant claims or missing disclaimers in published video.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of professional video editing, with a reel and podcast portfolio (share links).
- Expert in Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve, plus CapCut for short-form; After Effects a strong plus.
- Working graphic design skills, comfortable creating thumbnails, title cards, and motion graphics in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva, and following an existing design system.
- Strong audio editing skills (noise reduction, leveling, clean podcast sound).
- Genuine understanding of short-form retention mechanics, hooks, pacing, captions, sound.
- Organised file and version management; reliable with deadlines.
- Bonus: advanced motion graphics, subtitle automation, or experience with finance/education/parenting content.
