Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Abacus & Phonics Teacher to work with young learners (ages 4–15 years). The role involves building a strong foundation in mental mathematics (Abacus) and early literacy skills (Phonics) through structured, engaging, and activity-based learning methods.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about early childhood education and capable of creating a fun, interactive, and supportive learning environment that enhances both numerical intelligence and language development.
Key Responsibilities - Teaching & Curriculum Delivery
- Conduct structured Abacus sessions focusing on mental math, visualization techniques, speed, and accuracy
- Deliver Phonics instruction covering letter sounds, blending, segmenting, reading fluency, and pronunciation
- Plan and execute age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals
- Adapt teaching strategies to suit different learning levels and abilities
Classroom Engagement & Student Development
- Use interactive teaching aids such as flashcards, digital tools, games, and storytelling
- Encourage active participation, curiosity, and confidence among students
- Build students’ focus, memory, listening, and comprehension skills
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
Assessment & Progress Tracking
- Conduct regular assessments, worksheets, and practice sessions
- Track individual student performance and maintain records
- Identify learning gaps and provide targeted support or remedial sessions
- Share periodic progress reports with parents and management
Parent & Communication Management
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements
- Provide guidance to parents on practice techniques at home
- Address parent queries in a professional and timely manner
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain attendance records and class documentation
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and lesson plans
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and curriculum development activities
- Support in organizing events, competitions, or demo classes
Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline (B.Ed./Education background preferred)
- Certification in Abacus training and/or Phonics programs (e.g., Jolly Phonics or equivalent) is highly desirable
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in teaching Abacus and/or Phonics
- Experience working with early learners preferred
- Freshers with relevant certification and strong teaching aptitude may also be considered
