Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Structure Fitter to carry out structural fabrication, assembly, fitting, and installation activities in shipbuilding and ship repair projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural fitting and assembly of ship hulls, decks, bulkheads, frames, brackets, stiffeners, and other structural components.
- Read and understand shipbuilding drawings, fabrication drawings, dimensions, and layouts.
- Carry out marking, cutting, alignment, leveling, and fitting of steel structures.
- Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, gaps, and tolerances before welding.
- Work closely with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and production teams.
- Assist in block fabrication, erection, and onboard structural installation.
- Identify and rectify structural defects and dimensional mismatches.
- Follow shipyard safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure safe use of tools and equipment.
- Complete assigned work within the production schedule.
Required Skills:
- Good knowledge of ship structural fabrication and fitting.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering/shipbuilding drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring and fitting tools such as measuring tape, spirit level, square, vernier, and other hand tools.
- Knowledge of welding symbols and basic shipbuilding processes.
- Good understanding of workplace safety procedures.
Qualification & Experience:
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Fabrication, Mechanical, or related trade.
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, or heavy engineering.
- Shipyard experience preferred/mandatory.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
