A medical receptionist manages front-desk operations in a healthcare facility, ensuring smooth patient flow and providing excellent customer service. They handle administrative tasks, patient scheduling, and communication between patients and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
- Check patients in and out, verifying personal and insurance information
- Maintain and update patient records (electronic or paper)
- Process billing, payments, and insurance claims
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other staff
- Ensure the reception area is clean and organized
- Handle confidential patient information in compliance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional medical office training is a plus)
- Proven experience in a receptionist or administrative role (healthcare preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
- Proficiency in office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy

Working Conditions
