The role
The Admissions Counsellor occupies a central role in supporting student recruitment and admissions activities for EmpowerEdu Certificate Programs. The role is responsible for engaging prospective students and parents, providing accurate programme information, guiding applicants through the admissions journey, and supporting enrolment conversion activities.
The Admissions Counsellor will work closely with academic teams, partner institutions, schools, and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth and professional admissions experience for prospective learners. The role also involves maintaining applicant records, supporting outreach and promotional activities, and ensuring timely follow-up with enquiries and applications.
The position requires strong communication, relationship-building, and student engagement skills, with a commitment to delivering a high-quality student experience aligned with EmpowerEdu’s values and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate should be flexible during busy admission periods, including weekends and events, particularly during student recruitment cycles and intake periods.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support student recruitment, admissions, pipeline management, and successful student conversion activities for EmpowerEdu Certificate Programs.
2. Counsel prospective students and parents regarding programme offerings, progression
opportunities, eligibility criteria, fees, admissions processes, qualification options, and career pathways to support enrolment and progression outcomes.
3. Conduct regular follow-ups with prospective students through calls, emails, social media,
events, and other communication channels to achieve admissions, enrolment, customer
satisfaction, and advocacy targets across the student journey.
4. Guide applicants through the admissions, enrolment, and progression processes, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and successful application completion for both EmpowerEdu and respective international partner universities.
5. Coordinate and follow up on fee collection processes, maintain accurate fee records, and work closely with the Finance department to ensure timely payment tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
6. Manage and maintain prospective student leads, applications, CRM databases, and admissions records with high accuracy and confidentiality.
7. Participate in school visits, education fairs, webinars, workshops, counselling sessions, open days, and other promotional or lead-generation activities to support student recruitment and outreach initiatives.
8. Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, schools, education providers, institutional partners, and external stakeholders while delivering outstanding customer service throughout the admissions and progression journey.
9. Coordinate with academic, operations, marketing, and partner university teams to ensure smooth onboarding, induction, student engagement, and progression processes.
10. Provide students and stakeholders with clear, accurate, and accessible information regarding admissions requirements, programme pathways, qualification options, partner university opportunities, and related processes.
11. Provide regular admissions reports, pipeline updates, enrolment forecasts, market feedback, and student conversion data to management.
12. Ensure compliance with institutional admissions policies, ethical recruitment practices, partner university requirements, and applicable documentation or compliance procedures.
13. Handle student queries, concerns, and escalations in a professional, timely, and student-centred manner.
14. Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Head – Admissions or other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in any relevant field.
- Relevant experience in admissions, counselling, student recruitment, or overseas education services.
Desirable
- A postgraduate qualification in management, education, counselling, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience of 3–4 years in student admissions, counselling, sales, overseas student recruitment, or customer service-driven environments, with proven achievement of individual and team-based admissions, enrolment, or sales targets.
- Strong understanding of student engagement, counselling, conversion processes, and handling prospective student enquiries, admissions documentation, and applicant follow-up processes.
- Good understanding of the education sector, including international student progression pathways, overseas university admissions, immigration requirements, visa processes, and maintenance of CRM systems, applicant databases, and admissions records.
Desirable
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or prior experience working as an Education Counsellor, Admissions Counsellor, Student Recruitment Executive, or in a similar role.
- Experience working with international education providers, pathway programmes, or overseas university partnerships.
- Exposure to lead generation activities, education fairs, and student recruitment events.
