Core Duties and Responsibilities
While day-to-day tasks vary depending on the season and setting, standard responsibilities typically include:
- Plant Care & Cultivation: Planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and hedges; sowing seeds and taking cuttings; and monitoring general plant health.
- Routine Maintenance: Mowing lawns, edging, weeding, pruning, and trimming overgrown branches or hedges to maintain shape and encourage robust growth.
- Soil & Irrigation Management: Testing soil pH, adding compost, organic matter, or fertilizers, and managing irrigation/watering schedules.
- Pest & Disease Control: Identifying plant diseases or insect infestations and applying eco-friendly or chemical pest-control treatments.
- Seasonal Management: Preparing garden beds for winter, clearing fallen leaves in autumn, and implementing spring planting schedules.
