Service Engineer (Electrical Panels & Power Systems)

Position Overview
We are seeking a technically competent and customer-focused Service Engineer to support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and after-sales service activities for LT, HT, Specialized, Marine & Industrial Electrical Panels. The role requires extensive interaction with customers, site teams, consultants, and OEMs to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities of electrical panels and power systems at customer sites
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and pre-dispatch inspections
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, contractors, and OEM representatives during project execution
- Ensure seamless integration of panels with DG Sets, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, BMS and related control systems
- Support project handover activities and ensure smooth operational readiness
2. Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, control, communication, and protection-related issues
- Attend customer breakdown calls and provide timely technical support
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Provide remote support through phone, email, and online communication platforms
- Coordinate with Design, Production, and QA teams for resolution of complex technical issues
3. Preventive Maintenance & AMC Support
- Execute preventive maintenance activities and Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) visits
- Inspect switchgear, protection relays, busbars, power cables, control wiring, and associated systems
- Identify worn-out or critical components and recommend replacements
- Support AMC renewals through effective service delivery and customer engagement
4. Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare commissioning reports, service reports, inspection reports, and punch-point closure reports
- Maintain records of site visits, warranty claims, service history, and customer complaints
- Ensure timely submission of service documentation and reports as per company requirements
- Update service databases and maintain accurate technical records
5. Customer Relationship Management
- Build strong customer relationships through professional service support
- Ensure timely resolution of customer concerns and technical issues
- Conduct operator training and provide handover support after commissioning
- Support Sales and Estimation teams with site survey reports, retrofit opportunities, and service feedback
6. Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to electrical safety standards, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and site-specific EHS requirements
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry standards
- Promote safe work practices during installation, testing, and maintenance activities
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of LT Panels, PCC, MCC, IMCC, APFC, DG Synchronization, AMF, PLC, VFD, and Marine Panels
- Ability to read and interpret SLDs, GA Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Schematics, and Control Logic Drawings
- Experience in commissioning PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Protection Relays, and Power Management Systems
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and RS-485
- Familiarity with products from ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, L&T, Woodward, Deep Sea, ComAp, DEIF and similar OEMs
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Good report-writing, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage customer-facing activities effectively
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) or equivalent
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting electrical panels and power systems
- Experience in Electrical Panel Manufacturing, Power Distribution Systems, Industrial Automation, DG Synchronization Systems, Data Centers, Marine & Offshore Applications, or Critical Power Infrastructure preferred
- Exposure to FAT, SAT, AMC, and field service operations will be an added advantage
Travel Requirement
- Willingness to travel extensively across India and overseas for commissioning and service assignments
- Ability to stay at customer sites for extended durations whenever project requirements demand
