Position Summary
The Asst. Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all manufacturing activities related to Heavy Fabrication, Milling, Turning, Lathe Machining, Heavy Press Operations, and associated production processes. The role ensures production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are achieved while optimizing manpower, machinery, and material utilization.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning & Control
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders.
- Optimize machine utilization and production efficiency.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, quality, and stores departments to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
- Ensure achievement of production targets within budgeted costs.
2. Heavy Fabrication Operations
- Supervise fabrication activities including cutting, welding, assembly, and structural fabrication.
- Ensure fabrication work complies with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Monitor welding quality, dimensional accuracy, and fabrication standards.
- Implement productivity improvements in fabrication processes.
3. Machining Operations (Milling, Turning & Lathe)
- Manage conventional and CNC machining activities.
- Ensure proper machine setup, tooling selection, and process optimization.
- Monitor machining quality, tolerances, and productivity.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
4. Heavy Press Operations
- Oversee operation of hydraulic, mechanical, and power press machines.
- Ensure safe handling of heavy components and press tools.
- Monitor production quality and equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with operational and safety procedures.
5. Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, mentor, and supervise production supervisors, engineers, operators, and technicians.
- Allocate manpower effectively to meet production requirements.
- Conduct performance reviews and skill development programs.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement culture.
6. Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality Department to address non-conformities and corrective actions.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce rework, rejection, and production waste.
7. Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure availability and reliability of production equipment.
- Monitor machine health and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
- Promote a zero-accident work environment.
9. Inventory & Resource Management
- Monitor raw material, consumables, tooling, and production inventory.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely material availability.
- Control production costs and reduce material wastage.
- Ensure optimum utilization of resources.
10. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production reports, machine utilization records, and productivity data.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
- Analyze KPIs and recommend improvement actions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and company documentation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
- Additional certifications in Production Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Welding Technology will be an advantage.
Experience
- 6–15 years of experience in manufacturing and production management.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong experience in heavy fabrication, machining (milling, turning, lathe), and heavy press operations.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
