Position Summary
The Social Science Teacher is responsible for teaching subjects such as History, Geography, Civics, and Economics in accordance with the prescribed curriculum. The teacher fosters critical thinking, civic awareness, and an understanding of social, political, and economic systems while creating an engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Social Science lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Teach History, Geography, Civics, and Economics as per grade requirements
- Develop lesson plans, worksheets, projects, and assessments
- Encourage inquiry-based learning and critical thinking skills
- Use maps, charts, case studies, and digital resources to enhance understanding
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records
- Prepare students for internal assessments and board examinations (if applicable)
- Promote awareness of current affairs and responsible citizenship
- Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment
- Communicate student progress with parents and school management
- Participate in school meetings, activities, and professional development programs
- Follow school policies, child safety norms, and academic integrity standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or a related field
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) – mandatory/preferred as per school norms
- Teaching experience in a school setting is preferred
