Senior Resident – Microbiology
Location: Sri Muthukumaran Medical College & Research Institute, Mangadu, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Job Summary
Sri Muthukumaran Medical College & Research Institute invites applications from qualified and dedicated medical professionals for the position of Senior Resident – Microbiology. The selected candidate will support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, provide diagnostic microbiology services, participate in infection control activities, and contribute to research and academic development in accordance with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic microbiology investigations, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and serology.
- Report laboratory findings accurately and maintain quality assurance standards.
- Assist in the teaching and practical training of MBBS students, interns, and postgraduate trainees.
- Participate in infection prevention and hospital infection control committee activities.
- Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and accreditation standards.
- Support clinical departments with microbiological diagnosis and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Participate in departmental seminars, journal clubs, CMEs, workshops, and academic discussions.
- Assist in departmental research projects, publications, and presentations.
- Perform duties assigned by the Head of the Department and the institution.
Eligibility
- MD/DNB in Microbiology from a recognized institution.
- Valid NMC/State Medical Council registration.
- Fresh postgraduates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with only a PhD in Microbiology are not eligible for the Senior Resident position under NMC norms.
