JOB DESCRIPTION
· Knowledge of neonatal anatomy and physiology (premature & full-term babies)
· Understanding of common neonatal conditions (RDS, sepsis, jaundice, birth asphyxia)
· Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP guidelines)
· Familiarity with incubators, warmers, and phototherapy units
· Knowledge of ventilator management and oxygen therapy in neonates
· Understanding of infection control practices specific to NICU
· Knowledge of neonatal medication dosage calculations (weight-based)
· Awareness of feeding techniques (gavage feeding, breastfeeding support, TPN basics)
· Knowledge of monitoring vital signs in neonates (SpO₂, heart rate, temperature)
· Understanding of IV fluids, central lines, and neonatal drug administration
· Knowledge of developmental care and handling of premature babies
· Awareness of emergency situations and critical care protocols in NICU
· Knowledge of documentation and NICU charting standards
· Understanding of parental counselling and emotional support
· Familiarity with biomedical equipment used in NICU (CPAP, syringe pumps, monitors)
