About Rajaswi Group
Rajaswi Group is an Ahmedabad-headquartered, promoter-led enterprise operating across three distinct verticals:
- Specialty chemicals manufacturing — pigment paste and acrylic binder production, with plants in Gujarat and Rajasthan serving industrial and textile markets.
- A landmark private construction project — a heritage-grade neoclassical residence developed to international standards, in collaboration with leading UK architectural and stone consultants.
- An emerging agricultural venture — a greenfield farming operation in North Gujarat.
We are at an inflection point: growing quickly, investing in new capacity, and deliberately professionalizing from a founder-driven business into a well-governed institution. We are building an owner's office with real depth in finance, legal, operations, and technical functions. This role sits at the centre of that transformation.
The Role
The Chief Operating Officer is the senior-most execution leader in the group. Where the Managing Director sets direction, the COO is accountable for making it happen — converting strategy into disciplined, measurable, day-to-day operations across every vertical.
This is a builder's role as much as an operator's. You will not be inheriting a fully-formed machine; you will be building it — the systems, controls, reporting rhythms, and management cadence that allow a multi-vertical, owner-led enterprise to run as a professional organization that does not depend on any single individual.
You will free the promoter from being the operational bottleneck, hold functional and unit heads accountable, and be the person who can answer, at any time, "Are we hitting our targets, and if not, why not?"
Key Responsibilities
Operational leadership across verticals
- Own end-to-end operational performance — manufacturing throughput, quality, project delivery, procurement, supply chain, and cost — across chemicals, construction, and agriculture.
- Ensure plants run on schedule, on specification, and on budget; ensure projects hit their milestones.
Systems, controls & governance
- Institutionalize robust internal controls and a strict separation-of-duties framework across procurement, finance, stores, and operations — no single role holding authority to source, approve, release, and pay.
- Build the group's operating dashboard and MIS: the KPIs, reporting cadence, and review discipline that make performance visible and accountable.
- Design and enforce SOPs so that critical processes are repeatable and independent of personal memory or trust.
Cross-functional coordination
- Align sales, production, procurement, finance, HR, and technical functions so the group optimizes as a whole rather than in silos.
- Resolve the day-to-day friction between functions that would otherwise escalate to the promoter.
People & organization
- Partner with the promoter on org design, senior hiring, and building functional depth.
- Set objectives for and hold accountable unit heads, plant leadership, and functional managers.
- Establish the operating rhythm — weekly operational reviews, monthly performance reviews, quarterly planning.
Performance & financial discipline
- Work with the finance function to own operational budgets, cost control, and capex discipline.
- Drive margin improvement, working-capital efficiency, and return on invested capacity.
Vendor, partner & project oversight
- Oversee major vendor and contractor relationships; strengthen evaluation, negotiation, and performance-management standards.
- Provide senior operational governance over capital projects and new-venture build-outs.
Your First 12 Months
- Establish a group-wide operating dashboard and monthly review cadence that gives the promoter a single, reliable view of performance.
- Implement a documented separation-of-duties and internal-controls framework across all procurement and payment processes.
- Stand up SOPs and reporting for the newly commissioned chemical production lines, and bring QC and inventory discipline to a repeatable standard.
- Bring structured operational governance to the group's live capital project and emerging agri venture.
- Build the management layer beneath you — clarify roles, close key gaps, and put the right unit and functional heads in place.
Who We're Looking For
Required
- 15+ years of experience, with a strong track record in operations / general management within manufacturing or industrial enterprises.
- Demonstrated success building systems and controls in an owner-led or professionalizing organization — not merely running an already-mature operation.
- Deep command of internal controls, MIS, and process discipline; genuine conviction that structure and governance beat personal trust.
- Proven ability to lead across functions and hold senior people accountable without micromanaging.
- Strong financial and commercial literacy — comfortable owning budgets, cost, and capex.
- First-principles analytical thinker who can move fluidly between the shop floor and the boardroom.
Preferred
- Exposure to process / batch manufacturing (specialty chemicals, coatings, pigments, or allied) is a strong plus.
- Experience professionalizing a family-owned or promoter-driven group.
- Comfort with multi-site and multi-vertical complexity, including greenfield and project-based operations.
- Willingness to be hands-on and site-present; this is not a corner-office role.
What We Offer
- A senior mandate with genuine authority and direct, daily access to the promoter.
- The rare opportunity to architect the operating spine of a diversified, ambitious group — across established manufacturing, a landmark project, and a new venture.
- A leadership seat in a business that is serious about doing things properly, for the long term.
- Compensation commensurate with experience and the seniority of the role.
