Job Summary
The ICU Technician is responsible for assisting doctors and nursing staff in providing quality patient care in the Intensive Care Unit. The role includes operating and maintaining critical care equipment, assisting during emergencies, airway management, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Support
- Assist doctors and nurses during procedures and medical emergencies.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs as directed.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Assist in safe patient transfer within the hospital.
- Provide support during CPR and code blue situations.
Airway Management
- Assist physicians during endotracheal intubation and extubation procedures.
- Perform endotracheal intubation independently if trained, credentialed, and authorized as per hospital policy and under appropriate physician supervision.
- Ensure proper fixation and care of endotracheal tubes.
- Manage airway devices and provide suctioning as required.
Equipment Management
- Operate and maintain:
- Ventilators
- Cardiac Monitors
- Defibrillators
- Syringe Pumps
- Infusion Pumps
- ECG Machines
- Suction Machines
- ABG Machines
- Report equipment malfunction immediately.
Infection Control
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
Documentation
- Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Assist in maintaining patient-related documentation.
- Report abnormalities and emergencies promptly.
Inventory Management
- Ensure availability of emergency drugs and consumables.
- Check crash carts and emergency equipment regularly.
- Coordinate with stores and biomedical departments for replenishment and maintenance.
Qualification
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Critical Care Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, or equivalent.
Experience
- 2–15 years of experience in ICU/Critical Care.
- BLS and ACLS certification preferred.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of ventilator and critical care equipment management.
- Airway management and intubation skills.
- Emergency and CPR support.
- Good communication and teamwork.
- Ability to work under pressure and rotational shifts.
Working Hours
- Rotational shifts as per hospital requirements.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
