Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager with 4–8 years of proven experience in the 3PL/4PL logistics and road transportation industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for acquiring new business, managing strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth by offering end-to-end logistics solutions, including Full Truck Load (FTL), Less Than Truck Load (LTL), dedicated fleet solutions, warehousing, distribution, and value-added logistics services.
The candidate should possess strong market knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and an established network within manufacturing, FMCG, retail, pharmaceuticals, automotive, e-commerce, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities for 3PL/4PL logistics and road transportation services.
- Promote the company's logistics solutions, including:
- Full Truck Load (FTL)
- Less Than Truck Load (LTL)
- Dedicated Fleet Services
- Contract Logistics
- Warehousing & Distribution
- Secondary Transportation
- Last-Mile Delivery Solutions
- Develop strategic sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with corporate clients, manufacturers, distributors, exporters, importers, and supply chain decision-makers.
- Generate leads through cold calling, client visits, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Understand customer supply chain requirements and design customized logistics solutions.
- Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, RFQs/RFPs, rate negotiations, and service agreements.
- Coordinate with Operations, Fleet Management, Warehousing, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor market trends, freight rates, competitor activities, and customer requirements to identify new business opportunities.
- Conduct regular business reviews with existing clients to increase business volume and improve customer retention.
- Manage key accounts and identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling logistics services.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments and maintain healthy customer accounts.
- Maintain accurate sales pipelines, CRM records, and business development reports.
- Represent the company at logistics expos, trade fairs, and industry networking events.
- Work closely with senior management to develop market expansion strategies and achieve organizational growth objectives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of 3PL/4PL logistics operations and road transportation.
- Experience in FTL, LTL, contract logistics, fleet management, and freight solutions.
- Excellent B2B sales, business development, and key account management skills.
- Experience in handling RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of freight costing, pricing strategies, and logistics contracts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strategic client relationships and close high-value deals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
- Self-driven, target-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 4–8 years of experience in Business Development within the 3PL/4PL logistics or road transportation industry.
- Existing network of corporate clients in logistics-intensive industries will be preferred.
