Job Description – Software Engineer (Java)
About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our team in building a next-generation credit decision engine for an enterprise fintech credit card platform. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex business problems, taking ownership of features from design to deployment, and delivering high-quality software.
You will be responsible for understanding business requirements, breaking them down into well-defined technical tasks, implementing scalable solutions, and ensuring high engineering standards through testing, documentation, and collaboration. While AI-assisted development is encouraged, you are expected to take full ownership of the design, implementation, and quality of your work.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain features for a credit decision engine powering an enterprise fintech credit card platform.

Analyse business requirements and decompose them into well-defined, manageable development tasks.

Design and implement robust, maintainable, and scalable software solutions using engineering best practices.

Write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure software quality and reliability.

Prepare technical design documents, implementation proposals, and other documentation required to communicate and validate solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and deliver business value.

Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining complete ownership of the code, design decisions, and delivered solution.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong programming experience with any Java framework and Maven.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and software design.

Demonstrated ability to build and deliver end-to-end software solutions.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex business scenarios.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

High sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to delivering quality software.

Ability to convert ambiguous business requirements into clear, actionable technical questions and implementation plans.
Preferred Skills

Experience working with a Business Rules Engine.

Hands-on experience with Drools Rule Engine is a strong advantage.

Knowledge of Apache Pekko and the Actor Model is desirable.

Experience working in enterprise-scale distributed systems.

Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD practices.
