Position: Staff Nurse
Location: Mapusa, North Goa
Job Purpose:
The Staff Nurse ensures patient safety and accurate drug administration by adhering to oncology protocols.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
- Check the patient’s vital signs, general condition and complaints before chemotherapy administration.
- Verify chemotherapy orders and treatment protocols as prescribed by the Medical Oncologist.
- Prepare, reconstitute, dilute, and administer chemotherapy drugs strictly as per prescribed protocol and safety guidelines.
- Double-check drug name, dosage, route, rate, patient identity, and expiry before administration.
- Ensure safe handling, labelling, storage, and disposal of cytotoxic drugs according to oncology safety standards.
- Monitor patients continuously during drug administration for adverse reactions, hypersensitivity, or complications.
- Take immediate action and inform the doctor in case of infusion reactions or medical emergencies.
- Proper insertion and maintenance of IV lines, PICC lines, and chemo ports as per protocol.
- Provide pre-medication and post-treatment nursing care.
- Patient Education & Counselling
- Educate patients and relatives about treatment procedures, possible side effects, and home care precautions.
- Guide patients regarding medication schedules and follow-up visits.
- Inform the patient/relative to collect their oral chemotherapy medication once it has been received.
- Infection Control & Safety
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques.
- Follow biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of chemo chairs and treatment areas.
- Use PPE appropriately while handling hazardous drugs.
- Coordination & Teamwork
- Coordinate with oncologists, pharmacists, and front desk for smooth patient flow.
- Assist doctors during procedures if required.
- Support in managing day care schedules and patient appointments and inform patient one day prior to the appointment.
- Inventory & Equipment Management
- Monitor stock of chemotherapy drugs, consumables, and emergency medicines.
- Report shortages or maintenance issues promptly.
- Monitor and keep record of general surgical and medical instruments.
- Send the purchase order (PO) to the pharmacy one to two days before the patient’s scheduled chemotherapy session. Upon receiving the medications, verify them against the prescription. If the chemotherapy is cancelled, return the drugs to the pharmacy within one to two days following proper procedures.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate nursing records, chemotherapy charts, drug administration records, and treatment documentation.
- Ensure informed patient and relative consent is obtained prior to treatment.
- Follow hospital policies and infection control protocols.
- Report medication errors, adverse events, and incidents as per policy.
- To perform any other duties as assigned from time to time and flexible to work at other centres whenever needed.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
