Dream Volunteers’ mission is to position young people across the globe to become change makers through education, service, and cross-cultural connections.
Dream Volunteers is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization coordinating local and international service-learning programs for youth. As a nonprofit organization, we work closely with schools, local community organizations, and underserved communities to create meaningful educational and social impact opportunities.
Our programs include academic scholarships for students living in under-resourced communities, international service-learning experiences for student groups, youth leadership initiatives, community engagement activities, and cross-cultural exchange programs connecting local communities and international volunteers.
Position Summary
The India Program Director is responsible for serving as the in-country leader for Dream Volunteers programs in India, managing service projects, coordinating international volunteer groups, and overseeing the Young Dreamer Program as a mentor, advocate, and coach.
This role is ideal for professionals passionate about education, youth empowerment, community development, and social impact. The successful candidate should have hands-on experience working with NGOs, schools, community organizations, and underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities
Service Project Management
· Meet with local government officials, school authorities, NGOs, and community stakeholders to obtain necessary permissions and strengthen partnerships.
· Coordinate and manage community service projects and educational initiatives.
· Monitor project timelines and communicate progress regularly with the Dream Volunteers Senior Program Director.
· Work with school leaders and community partners to identify and implement meaningful projects.
Trip Leader for DV Groups
· Serve as the primary in-country coordinator and representative for Dream Volunteers groups visiting India.
· Coordinate accommodation, transportation, safety arrangements, and overall program logistics in collaboration with local partners and service providers
· Work closely with the Dream Volunteers Program Coordinator to develop meaningful educational, cultural, and service-learning experiences.
· Accompany groups during project activities, educational visits, cultural programs, and community engagement initiatives
· Provide participant support and ensure appropriate medical assistance and emergency response arrangements whenever required.
· Build and maintain positive relationships with educators, partner organizations, schools, and community stakeholders
· Participate in pre-departure meetings, online orientation sessions, and planning discussions with international partners and educators.
· Ensure smooth implementation of the program while maintaining high standards of participant safety, cultural sensitivity, and community engagement.
Young Dreamer Program
Connections with Dream Volunteers Trip Participants
● Organize logistics for all Young Dreamers to connect with trip participants and participate to the fullest extent possible
Workshops, Mini-grants & Mentorship
● Oversee implementation of monthly workshops (designed by Dream Volunteers Senior Program Director)
● Oversee annual community service project in Jaipur from October thru December
● Provide tutoring and mentorship to our Young Dreamers with the support of Jaipur-based program staff
● Meet with individual students and their parents/guardians at least once every 2 months
● Support mini-grant recipients to carry out projects and monitor progress
Financial Administration
● Make payments to schools and colleges
● Purchase uniforms and supplies for all Young Dreamers
● Submit necessary receipts for scholarships to DV
Communication with Dream Volunteers Staff
● Participate in bimonthly phone call with DV Senior Program Director
● Attend bimonthly meeting with DV program directors
● Submit group activity updates and photos to DV as needed
Marketing & Fundraising Support
· Work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Team to collect stories, photographs, testimonials, and videos demonstrating program impact.
· Support fundraising and communication efforts by showcasing community outcomes and student achievements.
Preferred Background & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Education, Development Studies, Psychology, or related fields.
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in NGOs, education, community development, youth programs, or nonprofit initiatives.
· Experience working with schools, local communities, international volunteers, children, youth, women and girls will be an advantage.
· Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
· Fluency in English and Hindi is essential.
