Branch Manager – Steamer Agency
Location: Kochi, Kerala
Walter Cuminns Shipping Services (WCS) is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to oversee the overall operations, business development, customer service, and financial performance of our Kochi branch.
The successful candidate will manage vessel agency operations, coordinate with port authorities and shipping lines, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain customer relationships, and lead the branch team to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Manage and supervise all vessel agency operations within the branch.
- Ensure timely vessel clearance, berthing, cargo operations, and sailing formalities.
- Coordinate with port authorities, customs, immigration, terminal operators, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor vessel turnaround times and service quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with shipping lines, charterers, cargo owners, and logistics partners.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand the branch's customer base.
- Prepare commercial proposals and participate in contract negotiations.
- Support regional and corporate sales initiatives.
Financial Management
- Manage branch budgets, revenue targets, and operational costs.
- Review and approve operational expenses and vendor payments.
- Monitor branch profitability and implement cost-control measures.
- Ensure accurate invoicing and timely collection of receivables.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop branch personnel.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in shipping agency operations.
- At least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of port operations, vessel agency services, customs procedures, and maritime regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and commercial management skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
