Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of Ashok Leyland and SML diesel buses.
- Diagnose and repair engine, clutch, gearbox, transmission, differential, suspension, steering, and braking systems.
- Inspect vehicles regularly to identify mechanical defects and ensure roadworthiness.
- Carry out engine overhauls and major repairs when required.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical faults related to starting, charging, lighting, and dashboard systems.
- Replace defective parts, filters, belts, bearings, and other mechanical components.
- Conduct routine servicing, including engine oil changes, lubrication, coolant replacement, and filter replacement.
- Perform brake adjustments, clutch settings, wheel alignment checks, and suspension repairs.
- Maintain records of repairs, spare parts consumption, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with the Transport In-charge to schedule maintenance and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Ensure availability and proper use of workshop tools and equipment.
- Follow manufacturer-recommended service procedures and maintenance standards.
- Assist in vehicle inspections before fitness certification and statutory compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the workshop area.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repair requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Ashok Leyland and SML diesel engine systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately.
- Knowledge of fuel injection systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and air brake systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and fleet management practices.
- Ability to read service manuals and repair procedures.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication is an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure during emergency breakdowns.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in transport companies, educational institutions, logistics, or industrial fleet operations.
- Hands-on experience with bus engine overhauls and major mechanical repairs.
- Knowledge of emission norms and vehicle fitness requirements.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
