Purchase Head – Agri Commodities (Rice / Maize)

Position Overview
Seamless Speciality Group (SSG) is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Head – Agri Commodities to lead procurement activities for Rice, Maize, Pulses, and other agricultural raw materials. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commodity sourcing, vendor development, price negotiation, supply chain coordination, and procurement strategy from ethanol, distillery, brewery, feed, or agri-commodity industries.
The role requires strong national level /Pan India market intelligence, supplier network, cost optimization skills, and the ability to ensure uninterrupted availability of quality raw materials.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
· Develop and execute procurement strategies for Rice, Maize, Pulses, and agri-based raw materials.
· Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers, traders, millers, and aggregators.
· Build strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply and competitive pricing.
· Monitor commodity markets, seasonal trends, crop cycles, and price movements.
Cost Optimization
· Drive cost-saving initiatives through effective sourcing strategies.
· Analyze market rates and benchmark pricing.
· Drive high value negotiation on pricing, contracts and credit terms to achieve cost efficiency.
Operations Coordination
· Lead and manage end-to-end procurement operation to ensure smooth supply chain activities.
· Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
Team Management
· Lead and mentor procurement team members.
· Improve procurement processes and systems for better efficiency.
Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of Agri Commodity Markets (Rice, Maize)
· Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
· Understanding of commodity pricing, trading, and sourcing practices
· Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
· Knowledge of procurement processes, contracts, and inventory management
· Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
Industry Preference: Distilleries / Ethanol Plants | Breweries | Poultry & Cattle Feed Companies | Agri Commodity Trading Firms
Preferred Industry Background
Candidates with experience in:
· Distilleries / Ethanol Manufacturing Plants (Grain procurement, maize sourcing)
· Breweries
· Poultry / Cattle Feed Manufacturing
· Agri Commodity Trading Organizations
Qualification
· Graduate / Post Graduate in Agriculture, Supply Chain, Business Management, Commerce, or related field preferred.
Experience
· 10-15 years of experience in procurement of agri commodities.
· Hands-on experience in sourcing Rice / Maize is highly preferred.
· 5 years of experince with the leadership role.
