Position Responsibilities:
Neonatal intensive care nurse support in assisting and managing critically ill babies.
In addition to basic nursing care, carries responsibilities in collaboration with the Senior Nurse Executive-NICU which includes:
1. Provides culturally appropriate care to patient.
2. Coordinates with senior nursing team members in assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
3. Takes inventory of the area instruments and articles as per the responsibility allotted by the Lead Nurse specialist.
4. Reports to the Lead Nurse Specialist/ Specialist or Senior Nurse Executive problem faced in caring and safety of the patients.
5. Takes responsibility in maintaining the equipments to the best of usage and reports to higher authority if breakdown happens.
6. Assists in arranging equipment for procedure
7. Support parents in lactation and Kangaroo Mother care.
8. Dispatches the specimen to the laboratory for analysis after completion of the procedure and maintains records.
9. Provide lactation support for mother and encourage and support Kangaroo mother care
10. Provides basic information and emotional support to the patient’s family
11. Ensure hygienic need of the baby is met
12. Timely reporting of events to senior nurses/incharges
13. Ensure patient safety and quality of care as per protocol
14. Practice nursing code of ethics
15. Attend in-service education as per schedule
16. Report incidents
