We are seeking a compassionate, attentive, and reliable Veterinary Nursing Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing hands-on care to our patient animals, supporting veterinarians and senior clinical staff during treatments, and ensuring a safe, hygienic, and comforting environment for pets and their owners.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Restraint & Handling
- Safely and gently restrain dogs, cats, and small animals during examinations, vaccinations, blood draws, and medical procedures.
- Recognize signs of stress, fear, or pain in pets and use low-stress handling techniques to keep animals calm and safe.
2. Clinical & Treatment Support
- Prepare treatment rooms, surgical suites, and medical instruments before procedures.
- Assist veterinarians with routine health checks, wound dressings, fluid therapy setup, and medication administration as directed.
- Monitor hospitalized and recovering surgical patients, taking note of appetite, energy levels, and vital signs.
- Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and clinical equipment.
3. Daily Animal Care & Kennel Management
- Feed, water, walk, and clean up after admitted or boarded pets according to their care plans.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment tables, cages, and floor areas using veterinary-grade protocols.
- Maintain strict hygiene and infection control standards across all clinical zones.
4. Inventory & Operational Support
- Keep treatment areas and pharmacy shelves well-stocked with towels, syringes, antiseptics, and essential supplies.
- Report low inventory, broken equipment, or safety hazards to management promptly.
5. Client Communication & Care
- Help greet pet parents, assist with bringing animals into treatment rooms, and provide compassionate support.
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges, ensuring pets are clean, comfortable, and ready to head home.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience working in a veterinary clinic, pet hospital, shelter, or animal care facility is preferred (hands-on training will be provided for passionate candidates).
- Animal Comfort: Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and safely lift animals up to 20–25 kg (with assistance when needed).
- Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) required; diploma or certification in animal care or nursing support is a plus.
