Location: Base – Head Office with travel across multiple plant locations
Reporting To: Managing Director
The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading and optimizing the overall operations of company , ensuring operational excellence, manufacturing efficiency, profitability, and sustainable business growth. The role requires strategic leadership with strong expertise in manufacturing operations, P&L management, supply chain optimization, process improvement, and multi-location plant management.
The incumbent will play a key role in driving operational performance, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and building a culture of accountability, ethics, and continuous improvement across all operational functions.
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organizational goals and business objectives.
- Drive operational excellence by improving productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost optimization across all manufacturing units.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement scalable operational systems and processes.
- Ensure alignment of operational planning with long-term organizational growth strategy.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions wherever required.
- Take complete ownership of operational profitability and overall P&L management.
- Analyze operational costs, margins, and financial performance to improve profitability.
- Collaborate with finance and commercial teams for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ensure optimum utilization of resources to achieve cost efficiency and operational targets.
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations to ensure timely production and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and utilities.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and operational challenges.
- Implement best manufacturing practices, lean manufacturing techniques, and process improvements.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, SOPs, and regulatory compliance across all plants.
- Coordinate with procurement, planning, logistics, and warehouse teams for smooth operational flow.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials and timely dispatch of finished goods.
- Improve coordination between plant operations and support functions.
- Act as a key operational interface between internal departments, vendors, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and business partners.
- Support business expansion and operational development initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing operational teams across multiple locations.
- Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, discipline, and collaboration.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, succession planning, and performance management.
- Promote employee engagement and leadership development initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and industry regulations.
- Maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Drive compliance with quality systems, safety norms, and operational governance practices.
- Undertake regular travel to manufacturing plants for operational reviews and audits.
- Monitor operational performance across locations and ensure implementation of management directives.
- Conduct periodic plant assessments to ensure operational efficiency and compliance standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering / manufacturing / Technical Discipline is mandatory.
- MBA in Operations Management will be an added advantage.
- 15 to 25 years of post-qualification experience in manufacturing operations.
- Preferred industries: Packaging, Engineering, Automobile, FMCG Manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Proven experience in strategic operational leadership roles with P&L responsibility.
- Strong exposure to multi-plant operations and large-scale manufacturing environments.
- Experience in Greenfield project setup and plant expansion will be preferred.
- Leadership & People Management: Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities. Ability to lead cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
- Operational Excellence: Expertise in manufacturing operations, process improvement, and productivity enhancement. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Financial & Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, costing, and profitability improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ethics & Integrity: High level of professional ethics, integrity, and compliance orientation.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Experience in Greenfield project execution and multiple plant management.
- Exposure to global manufacturing standards and operational best practices.
- Candidates currently working as Cluster Head, GM Operations, GM Technical, Plant Head, or similar leadership roles will be preferred.
