The Cost Value Engineering (CVE) function is the driver of cost transparency and optimization for externally purchased materials, components, and systems.
As a Cost Value Engineering Expert for the Auxiliary Turbine/ Generator Commodities, you will lead a diverse range of projects and initiatives, from generating cost transparency, definition of should cost and idea generation to optimization cost position, together with our interdisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
You will be an active member of our commodity circles, aligning cross-functional on the priorities and activities needed to implement our commodity specific strategy.
How You’ll Make an Impact

Act as a team member CVE and Procurement collaborating closely to gain cost transparency and foster close cooperation between Commodity Management (CM) and Engineering (EN), acting as a unified team to achieve common goals.

Engage closely with suppliers to understand their strengths and weaknesses, facilitating informed decision-making; Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes and enhance cost efficiency; Utilize theoretical Cost Structure Analysis (CSA) to negotiate and align with suppliers’ individual situations.

Understand and actively support the Commodity/Supplier Strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives; Ensure cost transparency aligns with the planned negotiation of commodities to optimize resource allocation.

Conduct detailed analysis of supplier-specific cost structures to identify opportunities for cost reduction; Assess scaling effects on bundling at suppliers to drive standardization and efficiency.

Develop and implement effective cost-out measures in close alignment with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing).

Applying and sharing of your knowledge on manufacturing processes and materials on the Acoustics commodity (mainly Air Intake, Enclosure, Diffusor and Stack), which means:

Large size components and the challenges linked to it

Steel structures and sheet metals with different material properties / grades

Welding processes and requirements

Cost drivers and cost structures of this business
Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a combined technical/commercial field or a technical discipline with long term professional experience in the Energy business, engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Project Management, and/or Supply Chain.

Relevant technical product knowledge in Core Commodities; proficiency in IT tools relevant to cost analysis and engineering, such as TcPCM.

Experience in gas/ steam turbine and/ or generator core commodities is preferred.

Experience in system Design to Cost (DtC) and VA/VE in different industries is a plus; Experience in technical and cost optimization for new developments is an advantage

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with demonstrated experience working in global cross-functional project teams.

Professional fluency in English and conversational in German would beneficial
