General Manager – Civil (Infra Projects)

Reporting To: Director / COO / Managing Director
Job Summary
The General Manager – Civil will be responsible for planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of infrastructure projects including storm water drainage systems, overhead water tanks, water supply pipelines, underground drainage (UGD) networks, sewage treatment plants (STP), internal roads, compound walls, warehouses, and related civil works. The role involves project leadership, budget control, contractor management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and stakeholder coordination.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end execution of infrastructure and civil projects.
- Prepare project schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies.
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within approved budgets.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, government authorities, and contractors.
Infrastructure Works Management
- Storm water drainage systems.
- Overhead water tanks (OHT).
- Water supply and distribution pipelines.
- Underground drainage (UGD) networks.
- Sewage Treatment Plants (STP).
- Internal and approach roads.
- Compound walls and boundary developments.
- Warehouses, utility buildings, and ancillary structures.
Contract & Cost Management
- Review estimates, BOQs, tenders, and contracts.
- Evaluate contractor bills and certify work completion.
- Control project costs and ensure budget adherence.
- Identify value engineering and cost optimization opportunities.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, IS codes, and quality standards.
- Implement QA/QC procedures and conduct periodic inspections.
- Enforce HSE policies and statutory safety requirements.
Team Leadership
- Manage Project Managers, Site Engineers, QA/QC teams, and contractors.
- Conduct performance reviews and mentor project personnel.
- Ensure effective allocation of manpower and resources.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, and utility agencies.
- Present project status reports to senior management.
- Resolve technical and contractual issues.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- M.E./M.Tech or MBA (Project Management) preferred.
Experience
- 15–20+ years of experience in civil and infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior project leadership role.
- Experience in industrial parks, township development, logistics parks, infrastructure development, or large-scale civil works preferred.
Technical Skills
- Project Planning & Scheduling (Primavera/MS Project).
- BOQ preparation and estimation.
- Contract administration.
- Infrastructure utility coordination.
- AutoCAD and project management software.
- Knowledge of IS Codes, NBC, and statutory regulations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-time project completion.
- Budget adherence and cost savings.
- Quality compliance and defect-free handover.
- Safety performance (zero major incidents).
- Client/stakeholder satisfaction.
- Resource utilization and project profitability.
