We are looking for a Design Engineer with sound knowledge of On-Grid, Off-Grid, and Hybrid Solar PV systems and a working understanding of Battery Energy StorageSystems (BESS) to support the design and engineering of residential, housing society, commercial, and industrial projects. The candidate will be responsible for understanding customer and site requirements, translating them into technically sound and cost-effective system designs, preparingengineering drawings and BOMs, and providing technical support to the Sales, Procurement, and Project Execution teams from proposal stage throughcommissioning
Key Responsibilities:
- Study customer requirements, electricity consumption data, load profile, sanctioned load, tariff category, and backup needs to arrive at the right systemcapacity and configuration (solar, BESS, or solar-plus-storage).
- Conduct or support site surveys and feasibility assessments; analyse roof area, orientation, tilt, shading, structural conditions, electrical infrastructure, andavailable interconnection points.
- Perform shadow analysis and solar generation simulations using PVsyst andprepare quick layouts, generation estimates, and proposal-stage designs usingArka360.
- Design Solar PV systems and BESS based on customer requirements and siteconditions, including module and inverter selection, string configuration, andbasic battery sizing for hybrid or storage systems.
- Carry out DC and AC cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, protectiondevice (MCB/MCCB/SPD/fuse) selection, and earthing and lightningprotection design as per applicable standards.
- Understand and compare technical specifications and datasheets of modules, inverters, batteries, structures, cables, and balance-of-system components torecommend suitable and compatible equipment.
- Prepare complete project drawings, including site plans, module layouts, stringlayouts, mechanical/racking layouts, Single-Line Diagrams, cable and wiringlayouts, BOS equipment locations, AC/DC interconnection details, and safetylabelling.
- Prepare accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) / Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based onthe approved design and support the Procurement team with technicalclarifications.
- Verify initial layouts and equipment locations provided by the Sales team andidentify design limitations, recommending suitable technical alternatives.
- Support preparation of net-metering, MSEDCL/DISCOM, and PM Surya Ghardocumentation requiring technical drawings and data.
- Coordinate with Sales, Procurement, and Project Execution teams; providetechnical support during installation and resolve design-related issues on site.
- Ensure drawings and designs are accurate and updated as per project revisions, and maintain organised design records for each project.
- Stay updated on solar and BESS products, standards (IEC/IS/MNRE/CEA), and industry best practices. Required Skills:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Arka360; proficiency in MSExcel and MS Office.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications and datasheets of solarand BESS components.
- Understanding of cable sizing, voltage drop, protection selection, earthing, andbasic electrical design calculations.
- Basic knowledge of BESS concepts such as battery capacity, C-rate, depth ofdischarge, hybrid inverters, and backup sizing.
- Ability to review layouts, drawings, calculations, and technical designdocuments for accuracy.
- Strong communication and coordination ability with Sales, Procurement, andsite teams.
- Willingness to travel within Mumbai / MMR for site surveys and installationsupport when required.
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
Experience: 2 to 4 years in Solar PV Design / Electrical Design. Exposure to BESSor hybrid system design is an added advantage
Pay: ₹11,420.81 - ₹25,000.00 per month
