Manager / Senior Manager – Land Acquisition
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager / Senior Manager – Land Acquisition to lead land procurement activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects across India, including wind, solar, hybrid, and BESS developments. The role will be responsible for developing land acquisition strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and securing land parcels required for timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Land Acquisition & Project Execution
Lead acquisition of private, government, forest, and tribal land for renewable energy projects in line with project timelines and budgets.
Identify suitable land parcels and develop acquisition strategies to support project development and expansion plans.
Manage end-to-end land acquisition activities, including negotiations, documentation, approvals, registrations, and possession.
Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
Prepare and submit applications for revenue, forest, and tribal land approvals.
Liaise with government authorities to obtain required permissions, clearances, and statutory approvals.
Ensure compliance with applicable land acquisition laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Due Diligence & Risk Management
Conduct land title verification, ownership due diligence, and risk assessments.
Work closely with Legal teams to identify and mitigate land-related risks and disputes.
Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of land records.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with district administration, revenue authorities, forest departments, local communities, and law enforcement agencies.
Manage right-of-way (ROW) issues, site disruptions, and stakeholder concerns to ensure uninterrupted project progress.
Represent the organization in negotiations and discussions with external stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Governance
Lead and mentor regional land acquisition teams and consultants.
Establish processes, governance frameworks, and reporting mechanisms for efficient execution.
Drive performance, accountability, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Development, Engineering, Legal, Project Execution, and Commercial teams to support project milestones.
Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, and land acquisition status reports to management.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Law, Management, or related discipline.
10-15 years of experience in land acquisition, preferably within renewable energy, infrastructure, transmission, power, or large-scale industrial projects.
Demonstrated experience in acquiring private, government, forest, and tribal land across multiple states in India.
