Job Title : Fabric Manager
Experience : 5 + Years
Salary : 40,000 to 70,000/-

Roles & Responsibilities :
1. Fabric Planning & Sourcing
- Plan fabric requirements based on order quantity, style, and consumption.
- Coordinate with merchandisers & buyers for fabric specs (GSM, composition, width, color).
- Source fabric from mills/vendors at best cost and quality.
- Develop new fabric options based on trend and buyer requirements.
2. Vendor Management
- Identify and finalize reliable fabric suppliers.
- Negotiate price, lead time, and payment terms.
- Monitor vendor performance (quality, delivery, consistency).
- Build strong relationships with mills, dyeing units, and processors.
3. Fabric Production Follow-up
- Track fabric production status (knitting, weaving, dyeing, processing).
- Ensure on-time delivery to meet production schedules.
- Coordinate with dyeing units for color matching and shade approvals.
- Handle delays and take corrective actions.
4. Quality Control
- Ensure fabric meets required quality standards.
- Check:
- GSM, shrinkage, color fastness, pilling
- Shade variation & defects
- Coordinate lab testing (like Azo, NPEO, etc.).
- Work with QA team to reduce fabric rejections.
5. Inventory & Store Management
- Monitor fabric stock levels.
- Avoid excess stock or shortages.
- Maintain proper fabric storage conditions.
- Track fabric movement (inward/outward).
6. Cost Control
- Optimize fabric utilization and reduce wastage.
- Control fabric cost within budget.
- Approve fabric consumption and marker efficiency.
- Analyze cost variations and suggest improvements.
7. Coordination with Departments
- Work closely with:
- Merchandising team
- Production team
- Cutting department
- Quality team
- Ensure smooth flow from fabric arrival to cutting.
8. Fabric Inspection & Approval
- Arrange 4-point inspection system.
- Approve bulk fabric before production.
- Maintain inspection reports and records.
9. Compliance & Testing
- Ensure fabrics meet buyer compliance standards.
- Handle third-party testing (SGS, Intertek, etc.).
- Maintain documentation for audits.
10. Problem Solving
- Handle issues like:
- Shade variation
- Fabric damage
- Delay in supply
- Take quick decisions to avoid production stoppage.
