We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Software Tester (QA Engineer) to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our digital products. You will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive test plans, identifying bugs, and collaborating with developers to resolve issues before they reach our users. If you have a knack for breaking things (in a constructive way), an obsession with quality, and a passion for delivering flawless user experiences, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Strategy
- Review and analyze software requirements, user stories, and design documents to provide early feedback on testability and potential risks.
- Design, document, and maintain detailed, reusable test plans, test cases, and test scripts for various testing levels (unit, integration, system, acceptance).
- Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities across multiple projects and sprints.
- Define and track quality metrics (defect density, test coverage, pass/fail rates) to measure and improve testing effectiveness.
Manual Testing (Functional & Non-Functional)
- Execute manual test cases to verify functionality, usability, and user experience across web, mobile, and desktop applications.
- Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases, unexpected behaviors, and user experience friction points that scripted tests might miss.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure new features don't break existing functionality.
- Perform non-functional testing including usability, accessibility (WCAG), compatibility (cross-browser, cross-device), and security testing (OWASP basics).
Automation Testing
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard frameworks to increase testing efficiency and coverage.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback.
- Identify and prioritize test cases suitable for automation to maximize ROI and reduce manual regression efforts.
- Maintain and refactor automation frameworks as the application evolves.
API & Backend Testing
- Validate RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI.
- Verify data integrity, error handling, response times, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
- Test database interactions, including query validation and data consistency across different environments.
Performance & Load Testing
- Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to ensure applications can handle expected user traffic and scale under peak loads.
- Use tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or K6 to simulate user loads and identify bottlenecks.
- Analyze performance metrics and work with developers to optimize response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
Defect Management & Reporting
- Identify, document, and track bugs using issue tracking systems (Jira, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps) with clear, reproducible steps and supporting evidence (logs, screenshots, videos).
- Collaborate closely with developers to prioritize, reproduce, and resolve defects in a timely manner.
- Communicate test progress, risks, and quality status to stakeholders through clear, concise test reports and dashboards.
Collaboration & Agile Workflow
- Work closely with Developers, Product Managers, and Designers throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure quality is built in from the start.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute to defining acceptance criteria for user stories.
- Act as the voice of the user, advocating for quality, usability, and accessibility in every product decision.
- Coordinate with SEO, Marketing, and UX teams to ensure that tracking codes, analytics, structured data, and UI/UX implementations are tested and validated.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay up-to-date with the latest QA tools, testing methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Proactively suggest improvements to testing processes, tools, and frameworks to increase efficiency and coverage.
- Contribute to the team's knowledge base, testing documentation, and onboarding materials for new QA team members.
