Job Summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing safety policies and procedures at the construction site to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses.
Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesSite Safety Management
- Implement and enforce HSE policies as per company standards and statutory requirements.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure safe work practices for activities such as excavation, scaffolding, formwork, lifting, hot work, and work at height.
- Monitor usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers.
Legal & Statutory Compliance (India)
- Ensure compliance with:
- Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act, 1996
- Maintain statutory registers, safety permits, and safety records.
- Coordinate with labour inspectors and statutory authorities during audits.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction training for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety meetings, and mock drills.
- Promote safety culture among workers and supervisors.
Accident Prevention & Reporting
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective & preventive actions.
- Maintain accident statistics and safety performance reports.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting equipment, first-aid kits, and emergency exits.
- Coordinate emergency evacuation drills.
Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with project engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and management on safety issues.
- Stop unsafe work activities and report violations to management.
- Support audits by internal and external safety teams.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducational Qualification
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering or Science
- Mandatory: Safety Officer Certification
(ADIS / PDIS / NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Industrial Safety)
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in construction site safety
- Experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices
- Familiarity with Indian labour laws and safety regulations
- Good communication skills (English & regional language)
- Ability to conduct training and safety briefings
- Report writing and documentation skills
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word)

Pay: ₹18,500.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
