Job Summary:
The Clinical Psychologist in a cancer hospital provides psychological assessment, counselling, and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. The role focuses on helping patients cope with diagnosis, treatment, stress, anxiety, depression, and end-of-life concerns while working closely with the oncology team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments of cancer patients to identify emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
- Help patients cope with cancer diagnosis, treatment side effects, and lifestyle changes.
- Offer support for anxiety, depression, fear, grief, and trauma related to illness.
- Develop and implement therapeutic interventions and coping strategies.
- Work closely with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for holistic patient care.
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support in critical situations.
- Support patients in palliative care and end-of-life stages.
- Educate patients and families about mental health and coping mechanisms.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Conduct workshops, awareness programs, and mental health initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree / M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or Applied Psychology
- RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) Registration (mandatory in India)
- Relevant experience in hospital or healthcare settings (oncology experience preferred)
