A Shipping Bill role involves managing end-to-end export/import documentation, coordinating with customs authorities, and securing compliance clearances (like the Let Export Order). Professionals in this field process trade paperwork, classify cargo, and interact with freight forwarders to prevent logistical delays
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation & Filing: Prepare, verify, and file essential shipping documents, including the Shipping Bill, Bill of Entry, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Certificate of Origin.
- Customs Coordination: Interact directly with Customs officials and Customs House Agents (CHA) to ensure accurate cargo assessment, valuation, and inspection.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all shipments comply with international trade laws and regulatory bodies
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and transport vendors to ensure timely loading and dispatch of goods.
- Duty & Incentive Processing: Manage the processing of duty drawbacks, excise refunds, and other export promotion schemes using customs documents.
- Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date tracking reports, manage MIS databases, and reconcile bank/customs data to prevent demurrage or detention costs.
