Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Heidelberg Press Operator to manage our 4-color offset printing machine. You will be responsible for the complete printing process, from setting up ink, plates, and registration, to executing high-quality production runs. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of Heidelberg presses and an exceptional eye for color matching and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Machine Set-Up: Prepare and set up the 4-color Heidelberg press, including plates, blankets, paper feed, and delivery systems.
- Color & Ink Management: Mix, match, and adjust Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black (CMYK), and Pantone spot inks to ensure exact color specifications.
- Registration Control: Align all four color towers perfectly to prevent overlapping or blurry prints.
- Quality Control: Run initial test proofs, pull samples during production, and monitor ink-water balance for consistency.
- Console Operation: Utilize the Heidelberg Prinect Press Center / CPC console to monitor and automate print adjustments.
- Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning of ink ducts, wash rollers/blankets, and conduct basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Safety: Adhere to all workshop safety guidelines regarding chemical handling and heavy machinery operation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating Heidelberg 4-color offset machines (e.g., Speedmaster SM 74, SM 102, or CD series).
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of offset printing chemistry, ink density, paper weights, and registration.
- Color Vision: Perfect color vision and the ability to spot subtle shifts in color tones under standard viewing lights.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy paper stacks, and work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Education: Diploma in Printing Technology is a plus, though proven practical experience is highly valued.
