Job Description: Data Center Service Engineer (4+ Years Experience)

Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Service Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in critical infrastructure operations to manage and support technical operations at the UIDAI Data Centre in Hebbal, Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring 24/7 uptime, continuous monitoring, preventive maintenance, fault resolution, and physical infrastructure security for Tier-III/Tier-IV facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Critical Infrastructure Operations:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain data center critical facilities, including Precision Air Conditioning (PAC/CRAC), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Diesel Generators (DG sets), High Voltage/Low Voltage electrical panels, and Battery Banks.
- Oversee Building Management Systems (BMS), Fire Suppression Systems (FM200/Novec), Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA), and Water Leak Detection (WLD) systems.
- Server & IT Equipment Support:
- Perform physical rack-and-stack of server, storage, and networking hardware.
- Conduct standard structured cabling, fiber/copper patch management, labeling, and port connectivity.
- Perform regular physical walk-throughs to monitor equipment LED status indicators, temperature/humidity sensors, and airflow performance.
- Incidence & Emergency Response:
- Lead immediate triage for hardware, power, or cooling failures, ensuring adherence to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Coordinate with vendor support teams (OEMs) for hardware replacement (disks, power supplies, RAM) and warranty calls.
- Provide on-call 24/7 support and manage critical escalation procedures.
- Maintenance & Capacity Management:
- Schedule and supervise preventive maintenance (PM) activities with third-party service vendors without disruption to critical workloads.
- Track space, power, and cooling capacity across high-density rack enclosures.
- Maintain precise asset logs, inventory tracking, and change control records.
- Compliance & Security:
- Strict adherence to data center physical security protocols, vendor access controls, and government facility compliance guidelines.
- Maintain detailed logs for shift handovers, daily system checklists, incident reports, and root cause analysis (RCA) documents.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science Engineering, or IT.
- Experience: 4+ years of direct experience working in an enterprise or government data center environment.
- Technical Competencies:
- Deep practical understanding of Data Center Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) infrastructure (UPS, DG, Chiller plants, PAC).
- Proven experience with rack mount cabling, cable management (TIA-568 standards), and server hardware troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in handling BMS software and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with Tier Classification standards (TIA-942 / Uptime Institute).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and emergency management skills under high-pressure conditions.
- Clear verbal and written documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in shift rotations (including night shifts)
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
