Job Summary
PMI Engineering is seeking skilled and experienced Milling Operators to join our aerospace manufacturing team in Chennai. The candidate will be responsible for operating CNC Milling Machines, ensuring precision machining of aerospace components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC Milling Machines (3-Axis, 4-Axis, and 5-Axis preferred).
- Set up tools, fixtures, and workpieces according to process requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary offset corrections.
- Perform in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Height Gauges, and CMM reports.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements for aerospace components.
- Maintain production records and complete job-related documentation.
- Follow aerospace quality standards and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to achieve production targets.
- Ensure proper machine housekeeping and preventive maintenance practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, Production Engineering, or related field.
- 2–8 years of experience operating CNC Milling Machines in aerospace, precision engineering, automotive, or high-precision manufacturing industries.
- Good knowledge of machining parameters, cutting tools, and tooling selection.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience in handling aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and aerospace-grade materials is preferred.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain controls is an added advantage.
- Strong focus on quality, accuracy, and productivity.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace component machining experience.
- Exposure to AS9100 quality systems.
- Experience with 5-Axis machining operations.
- Understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
