Job Purpose
The Cashier is responsible for handling all customer financial transactions accurately, operating the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently, maintaining cash drawer integrity, and providing a quick, friendly billing experience at checkout.
Key Responsibilities
1. Checkout & Transaction Processing
- Process customer payments efficiently via cash, credit/debit cards, UPI/digital wallets, or gift cards using the POS terminal.
- Scan items accurately, apply appropriate discounts or promotions, and issue printed tax invoices/receipts.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and refund requests according to company store policies.
2. Cash & Till Management
- Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of every shift with zero discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate float management and process daily cash deposits/handovers to store management.
- Maintain complete confidentiality and security around daily transaction data and cash handling.
3. Customer Service & Front-Desk Operations
- Greet customers warmly at the checkout counter and ensure a smooth, polite final touchpoint.
- Answer basic customer inquiries regarding prices, offers, return policies, and store loyalty programs.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and proper documentation (receipt rolls, shopping bags) at the billing counter.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) or Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business (preferred).
- Experience: 1–3 years of billing/cashier experience in a retail environment (apparel, sarees, department stores, or supermarkets).
- Skills:
- Hands-on experience operating retail POS software, barcode scanners, and card swipe machines.
- Basic proficiency in computer operations and MS Excel for basic daily reporting.
- Strong numerical ability, attention to detail, and accuracy in cash handling.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Adaptability: This JD covers standard retail cashier responsibilities (apparel, retail, supermarkets, or high-volume stores).
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
