Job Overview
We require qualified and motivated Site Engineers to attend service calls at GRSE Dockyard and other marine sites in Kolkata and nearby locations. The role involves installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of marine electrical systems including AC/DC motors, alternators, and control panels. The position demands hands-on technical skills, field experience, and customer interaction abilities to ensure smooth service operations.
Accountability / Responsibility
1. Carry out installation and commissioning of AC/DC motors, alternators, and control panels at customer sites.
2. Conduct testing and trials of electrical rotary equipment as per customer requirements. 3. Perform troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair activities for electrical panels and motors (DI/DR).
4. Interpret and work with as-built wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
5. Provide service support and technical assistance to customers at dockyards and ships.
6. Manage site operations efficiently, ensuring timely completion of assigned service activities.
7. Operate and maintain basic electrical and mechanical tools (DMM, Megger, SPM, HV Breakdown tester, wrench, etc.).
8. Ensure proper documentation and reporting of service visits and technical findings.
9. Maintain compliance with safety procedures and site-specific regulations.
10. Demonstrate professional behavior and maintain good customer relations during all site activities.
Qualifications / Requirements / Minimum Experience
1. B. Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
2. Minimum 1 year of experience in Marine Electrical or relevant service field.
3. Hands-on experience with AC/DC motors, alternators, and control panels.
4. Knowledge of marine systems and dockyard working environment preferred.
5. Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and troubleshoot effectively.
6. Proficiency in using electrical tools and measuring instruments (DMM, Megger, etc.).
7. Ready to travel extensively for service assignments and site support.
8. Basic knowledge of MS Word/Excel for reporting and documentation.
9. Fair communication skills in English, Hindi, and local language (Bengali preferred).
