We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Production Engineer to manage day-to-day manufacturing operations at our Markal Plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for production planning, manpower management, machine utilization, process control, and ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Candidates with experience in medical device manufacturing will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans as per customer schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor production output and take corrective actions to improve productivity.
- Coordinate with Production Manager for production scheduling and capacity planning.
- Ensure smooth production flow with minimum downtime.
Shop Floor Management
- Supervise daily manufacturing activities on the shop floor.
- Allocate work effectively to operators and technicians.
- Monitor attendance, shift deployment, and manpower utilization.
- Maintain production discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Motivate and guide the production team to achieve departmental objectives.
Machine & Process Control
- Monitor machine performance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team to reduce machine breakdowns.
- Ensure proper machine settings, tooling, and process parameters.
- Improve cycle time and optimize production efficiency.
- Support preventive maintenance activities.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure production activities comply with ISO 13485, GMP, and company quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process inspections and final inspections.
- Reduce process rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Ensure traceability of materials and production records.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for process deviations.
Material & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with Stores for timely availability of raw materials and consumables.
- Monitor WIP (Work-in-Progress) and minimize production bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Planning teams to avoid material shortages.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of production materials.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare Daily Production Reports (DPR), shift reports, and production MIS.
- Maintain production records, machine logs, and process documentation.
- Update ERP/MRP systems with production data.
- Monitor production KPIs and report performance to management.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and cost.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and process improvement initiatives.
- Reduce material wastage and improve process efficiency.
- Support new product trials and process validation activities.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and company policies.
- Promote safe working practices and use of PPE.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards on the shop floor.
- Ensure a safe and accident-free work environment.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate effectively with:
- Production Planning
- Stores
- Purchase
- QA/QC
- Maintenance
- R&D
- Logistics
- Support new product development and process transfer activities.
Key Accountabilities
The Production Engineer will be accountable for:
- Achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Reduction in rejection, rework, and production losses.
- Improvement of machine utilization and OEE.
- Compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, SOPs, and safety requirements.
- Timely submission of production reports and documentation.
- Efficient shop-floor management and manpower utilization.
- Continuous process improvement and productivity enhancement.
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
- 3–8 years of production experience in a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing will be preferred.
- Experience in Reusable Needle Manufacturing will be a significant advantage.
- Hands-on experience in stainless steel needle manufacturing, including:
- Grinding
- Beveling
- Polishing
- Cleaning
- Inspection
- Experience in production planning, manpower handling, and process improvement is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Production Planning & Control (PPC).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and process optimization.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, GMP, and quality management systems.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP software and MS Office.
- Knowledge of OEE, FPY, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and 7 QC Tools.
- Basic knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Air Micrometer.
- Understanding of production documentation and traceability requirements.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
