We're hiring an IT Asset Management and CMDB subject matter expert to take ownership of IT assets spanning Flexera, the ServiceNow or SymphonyAI CMDB, and the pipeline that ties the two platforms together.
The role works hand in hand with a wide set of teams — IT Operations, Finance, Procurement, Service Management, Vendor Management, and Infrastructure.
Core Duties
- Design, build, govern, and continuously enhance the enterprise CMDB ecosystem in SymphonyAI or any other tools, including configuration items, data models, attributes, relationships, ownership, lifecycle states, and service mappings.
- Serve as the CMDB SME and platform owner, defining the CMDB strategy, architecture, integration roadmap, governance framework, and operating model across the organization.
- Own and manage CMDB integrations across Flexera, discovery tools, infrastructure platforms, cloud services, and other authoritative data sources, ensuring reliable data ingestion, reconciliation, and synchronization.
- Administer IT asset data in Flexera across hardware, software, licenses, contracts, and entitlement information.
- Make certain asset and CMDB data stays accurate, complete, consistent, and aligned from one system to the next.
- Handle the full asset lifecycle: procurement, deployment, allocation, maintenance, renewal, reclamation, and retirement.
- Establish and enforce CMDB governance standards, data quality controls, operating procedures, and stewardship models to ensure the CMDB remains accurate, trusted, and aligned with business and operational needs.
- Assist with software license compliance, inventory reporting, and asset optimization.
- Produce and maintain reporting on asset inventory, license compliance, CMDB health, and integration status.
- Document processes, data flows, integration mappings, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to audits, compliance reviews, and governance activities covering IT asset and CMDB data.
- Work alongside technical and business teams to mature ITAM and CMDB processes.
Must-Haves
- Direct, hands-on time with Flexera or an equivalent IT Asset Management platform.
- Demonstrated experience building CMDB solutions from the ground up, integrating multiple data sources, defining governance policies, implementing reconciliation rules, and driving CMDB maturity initiatives.
- A sound understanding of IT Asset Management, CMDB, and ITSM processes.
- Working exposure to SymphonyAI or an equivalent ITSM/CMDB platform.
- Proven experience in data reconciliation, reporting, and lifting data quality.
- A working knowledge of system integrations, data mapping, and interface monitoring.
- Command of asset lifecycle management, software licensing, configuration items, and CI relationships.
- Strong analytical thinking paired with close attention to detail.
- Ease in working with a range of stakeholders across IT, Procurement, Finance, and Operations.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially Asset Management, Configuration Management, Incident Management, and Change Management.
- Experience with discovery tools or software inventory sources.
- Prior work integrating Flexera and SymphonyAI.
